A finite - temperature periodic structure in ( super ) string theory
نویسنده
چکیده
Using a Laurent series representation for the (super)string one-loop free energy, an explicit form for the analytic continuation of the Laurent series beyond the critical (Hagedorn) temperature is obtained. As an additional result, a periodic structure is found in (super)string thermodynamics. A brief physical discussion about the origin and meaning of such structure is carried out. Momentum fluctuations of heavy quarks in the gauge-string duality
Using the gauge-string duality, I compute two-point functions of the force acting on an external quark moving through a finite temperature bath of N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory. I comment on the possible relevance of the string theory calculations to heavy quarks propagating through a quark-gluon plasma.
متن کاملGluon scattering in N = 4 Super Yang-Mills at finite temperature
We extend the AdS/CFT prescription of Alday and Maldacena to finite temperature T , defining an amplitude for gluon scattering in N = 4 Super Yang-Mills at strong coupling from string theory. It is defined by a lightlike ”Wilson loop” living at the horizon of the T-dual to the black hole in AdS space. Unlike the zero temperature case, this is different from the Wilson loop contour defined at th...
متن کاملStrongly bound mesons at finite temperature and in magnetic fields from AdS/CFT
We study mesons in N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory with fundamental flavors added at large ’t Hooft coupling using the gauge/gravity correspondence. High-spin mesons are well described by using semiclassical string configurations. We determine the meson spectrum at finite temperature and in a background magnetic field.
متن کاملInheritance principle and Non-renormalization theorems at finite temperature
We show that in the large N limit, a weakly coupled SU(N) gauge theory with adjoint matter on a class of compact manifolds (like S) satisfies an “inheritance principle” in the low temperature phase. Finite temperature correlation functions of gauge invariant single-trace operators are related to those at zero temperature by summing over images of each operator in the Euclidean time direction. T...
متن کاملAnalytical Analysis of The Dual-phase-lag Heat Transfer Equation in a Finite Slab with Periodic Surface Heat Flux (RESEARCH NOTE)
This work uses the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of heat conduction to demonstrate the effect of temperature gradient relaxation time on the result of non-Fourier hyperbolic conduction in a finite slab subjected to a periodic thermal disturbance. DPL model combines the wave features of hyperbolic conduction with a diffusion-like feature of the evidence not captured by the hyperbolic case. For the ...
